1. The leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, has told the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that they cannot determine when the South East will produce Nigeria’s President.

The elder statesman said that when the time comes for an Igboman to produce the President of the country, nobody can stop them.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday presided over a meeting of security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was part of the ongoing efforts to engage military and intelligence community towards addressing Boko Haram insurgency, had in attendance all the service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim and the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi.

3. Renowned poet and winner of the 2017 NLNG Prize for Literature, Ikeogu Oke is dead. Oke died in Abuja on Saturday at the age of 51.

4. The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has asked the Federal Government to declare national mourning over the death of the soldiers who were killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

She said the killing of the soldiers by the terrorist group does not speak well of the country’s internal security apparatus.

5. The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has expressed consternation, dismay and shock over the killing of Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram terrorists.

MURIC wondered why it took the authorities almost one week to speak up on the silence, a development it described as very unfortunate.

6. The Center for Information Technology and Development, CITAD, said it has sadly noticed a fake picture of Nigerian military officers in circulation especially on social media platforms.

According to the centre, the now viral image shows two gentlemen in Nigerian military uniform, one is dead while the other is loudly crying.

7. Specialised Tasks, Training, Equipment and Protection International (STTEP), a South African mercenary company, says President Muhammadu Buhari ignored intelligence warnings about operations of Boko Haram in Borno.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, STTEP chairman, Eeben Barlow, claimed Nigerian soldiers have been reaching out for help since his company’s services were terminated.

8. Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has clarified that he did not defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, but only moved to the party.

Akpabio said he was surprised that the same people who founded the ruling party were the ones pulling it down.

9. All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors from the North-East say President Muhammadu Buhari deserves a second term in office based on his performance so far.

They gave the endorsement at the end of a two-day APC North-East zonal meeting in Bauchi on Sunday.

10. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has responded with heavy airstrikes directed at Boko Haram terrorists’ locations and vehicles after about one hundred soldiers were killed in a coordinated attack on a military base in Metele village of Guzamala Local Government Area, Borno State.

A top military intelligence officer told PRNigeria that the latest airstrikes had destroyed a convoy of vehicles linked to Boko Haram attackers involved in last week raid on the military base at Metele in Borno State.
